C'est la même chose...

You will mainly find them in the Ouest de la France.
The local lingo, also calls them "Lingots".

Mogettes are couleur d'ivoire
And so is this little motor-car.

Préfecture Prose and Cons

Mogette La 2CV Coquette was working at La Préfecture today.

Her propriétaire took this picture while her two cylinders ticked over on the pock-marked pavement; a memory of impromptu tyre fires, from générations of manifestations.

Embarrassingly, he'd left her in reverse gear.

Her centrifugal clutch engaged

And then-

Mogette crept, sans pilote, sans gêne,

Backwards, on a slight oblique

Towards the Préfet's Peugeot bleu métallique...

The chauffeur waved

And tipped his képi hat.

Only a Deuche can do a trick like that.

Le Changement et Les Essuie-Glaces

A week after "Le Changement", Mogette is preparing for a trip across Le Channel, and the météo man told us to expect rain.

As usual, La Deux-Chevaux Coquette had the good grace to give her propriétaire plenty of time to prepare for the voyage: the windscreen wipers packed up on a sunny Vendée Tuesday as we drove out of the lavage auto in La Roche sur Yon...And the new Président braved the downpour and the lightning on his first day in office.

Resident poet Marcel D'Oggerel summed it all up in verse:

It started as post-électorale semaine tranquille

...And ended with the dépose of Mogette's steering wheel

...inopérationnel.
